3 Female Suicide Bombers Killed By Vigilantes In Adamawa

Vigilantes, on Wednesday, January 4, killed 3 suspected female suicide bombers before they could enter a market in Gulak, headquarters of Madagali local government in Adamawa state.

Chairman of the local government, Yusuf Mohammed, confirmed the development, saying vigilantes sighted the suspected bombers from a distance.

He said the vigilantes, who were on patrol around the Bakin Dutse area, ordered the suspects to stop, but they refused.

“The shots by the vigilantes detonated the explosives on two of the suspected bombers,” he said.

“Although the explosive device on the third suspect did not set off, the explosion of the devices on the two other suspects, killed her.

“We suspect the bombers were on their way to Gulak market as today is the market day.”

When contacted, Akintoye Badare, spokesman of the 28 task force battalion, Mubi, confirmed the incident, saying it occurred around 10am.

Badare did not say whether the suspected female bombers were children or adults.

“Things are now okay. Our men are at alert as usual,” he said.

On Tuesday, troops repelled attacks from some fleeing insurgents at Dar village in the same local government.

Just recently, on New Year’s Eve, TheBrief quoted witnesses as saying that a teenage girl was killed in Maiduguri following an explosion from an improvised explosive device she was wearing on her body.

This was a week after President Muhammadu Buhari revealed that Boko Haram had finally been defeated as the Nigerian military had invaded the terrorists’ last know stronghold, Sambisa forest.

The explosion occurred around the popular Customs area of Maiduguri which used to be busy during the day.

Sources who saw the shattered remains of the suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber said the girl could be about 15 years old.
