6 jailed for fighting KAI officials in Lagos

A Lagos court has sentenced six men to two years in prison for allegedly assaulting officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI).

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement.

According to Wahab, the six convicts were arrested in the Alakija area of Lagos State on October 10, 2026, following an alleged assault on KAI officers who were carrying out their official duties.

The commissioner said the convicts were subsequently arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi.

Wahab said all the six defendants pleaded guilty to the charges filed against them, after which the court convicted and sentenced each of them to two years’ imprisonment.

The convicted men were identified as Ghadafi Ismail, Balarabe Mustapha, Usman Danladi, Abdullahi Bello, Kamala Garuba and Musa Idris.

The commissioner said the conviction underscored the importance of respecting law enforcement officers while they carry out their lawful responsibilities.

He warned that acts of violence against public officials would not be tolerated by the Lagos State Government and would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Wahab said the development should serve as a reminder to residents that government officials performing their statutory duties must be allowed to carry out their responsibilities without violence or obstruction.
