They have been deployed to help streamline passport applications for Nigerians living in the diaspora.
This was confirmed in a post on NIS’s X handle on Sunday.
It noted that the initiative was directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as part of ongoing efforts to improve passport services for Nigerians abroad.
The NIS said Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has been directed to deploy the team from the Service’s headquarters in Abuja to the UK.
According to the service, the team is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on August 10, 2026 and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate the processing and issuance of pending, new and renewal passport applications.
The team will also visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the exercise.
The intervention is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, new applicants and passport holders with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew their documents.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
