Actress Yvonne Jegede calls out double standards over movie bald hair controversy

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has spoken against what she describes as double standards from movie audiences following reactions to her colleague Sarian Martins’ appearance in a recent film role.

Sarian Martins recently drew attention after photos showed her with a bald look for a movie character. Instead of shaving her head completely, she reportedly used makeup to create the appearance of a clean hairline. The creative decision, however, led to mixed reactions from viewers, with some criticising the outcome.

Responding to the backlash, Yvonne Jegede defended her colleague and noted that actors are often judged no matter how they choose to transform for their roles.

She also referenced her own experience, explaining that when she shaved her hair for a movie project, she faced similar criticism despite fully committing to the role. In her words:

“When I cut my hair for my movie #Aja, this same social media people suggested it was extreme, that I should have used makeup. Viewers are hard to please lol.
