Nigeria will remain united despite ongoing challenges – First Lady, Remi Tinubu

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will remain united despite its ongoing challenges.

Speaking through Bishop Stephen Adegbite at a thanksgiving service in Abuja for the investiture of Most Rev. Sunday Onuoha as Archbishop on Special Duties, she said the nation’s survival rests in God’s hands and urged citizens to continue praying for the country.

She stressed that while Nigeria welcomes support from other nations, it will never succumb to intimidation or lose its dignity. She added that the country would celebrate Christmas in peace and joy.

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu said Nigeria must embrace foreign partnerships to effectively tackle insecurity.

He noted that such collaboration can be achieved without undermining the country’s sovereignty and described the President as a democrat open to alliances that benefit the nation. Kalu also highlighted the vital role of the Church in fostering unity and progress, saying nation-building requires all stakeholders at the table.

Archbishop Onuoha, speaking to journalists, acknowledged that Nigeria needs help from all fronts to overcome its deepening problems, especially insecurity. He said denying the severity of the situation does more harm than good, noting that seeking assistance in security matters is no different from asking for financial or humanitarian support.

He urged Nigerians to stop the culture of blame, emphasising that every loss of life is a tragedy beyond ethnic or religious lines. Onuoha pledged to work closely with the Church and other stakeholders to promote peace and unity across the country.
