As of the time of filing this report, no official explanation has been provided for the hike.
Visits to various NNPC retail outlets by The Nation showed attendants adjusting pumps to reflect the new price. At the NNPC station on Ogunusi Road, Ojodu Berger, attendants confirmed they had been instructed to update the petrol price to N992 per litre.
However, checks at Ibafo along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway revealed that some NNPC outlets were still displaying the old price of N875 per litre, though fuel was not being sold to commuters.
Most NNPC stations visited were not dispensing fuel at all.
