Evans appeared in court on Monday, October 13, alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka. The duo was arraigned before Justice A. O. Ogala on a five-count charge that includes murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Evans, who gained notoriety as one of Nigeria’s most infamous kidnap kingpins, is already serving time after being convicted in two separate kidnapping cases. He still faces multiple ongoing trials involving allegations of abduction and murder of several victims.
The latest charges mark yet another chapter in the long-running legal battle surrounding Evans, whose high-profile arrests and convictions have drawn national attention to Nigeria’s fight against violent crime and kidnapping-for-ransom syndicates.
