Speaking in an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie on Untold Stories, Atiku claimed that Akpabio has a long-standing reputation for mistreating women.
“Not only was he [Akpabio] corrupt, but he was also in the habit of abusing women,” Atiku stated.
Akpabio has previously faced allegations of harassment from women who worked with him.
More recently, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, accused Akpabio of repeated harassment. She claimed the Senate President had said, she could get anything she wants from the senate if she gives in to him.
Criticism of Senate Leadership and Rivers State Crisis
Atiku also condemned the leadership of the National Assembly, particularly the Senate, in approving the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.
“I was not surprised because I know the leadership is corrupt, and I have no apologies about that,” Atiku asserted.
He further accused Akpabio of lacking integrity, alleging that his questionable character dates back to his tenure as a governor.
“The Senate is actually known for having those types of characters, even when he [Akpabio] was a governor,” he added.
