This was confirmed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, in a post on his X account on Wednesday morning, Nov. 27.
Recall that Speed Darlington was arrested on October 4 by the Nigerian police over a video he did insinuating that his colleague Burna Boy had a s*xual relationship with US rapper Diddy and that is how he broke into the international community. He wrote, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a. AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
He added that the arrest occurred when the singer returned to Nigeria for a show.
The reasons for Darlington’s arrest remained unclear at the time of filing this report. However, Adeyanju claimed Burna Boy is behind it.
He wrote: “Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has been singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi.”
He was, however, released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.
Following his release Speed Darlington travelled abroad where he continued to taunt Burna Boy.
