As Long As This Party Remains In Power, This Culture Of Impunity Will Worsen - GRV Reacts To Touts Seizing People’s Phones And Demanding For Ransom In Lagos

Former Labour Party presidential candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, says as long as the ruling party in the state remains in power, the culture of impunity will worsen.

GRV stated this while reacting to news of touts seizing people’s phones and demanding ransom on the streets of Lagos.

Filmmaker, Biodun Stephen, released a video on social media on Thursday, April 4, raising alarm over the presence of touts in Lagos state who boldly seize the phones of residents and then release them after their victims pay a ransom.

Reacting to the video, GRV wrote;

‘’This is a creation of the political elite in Lagos that have enshrined a culture of violence and impunity. These thugs are armed by politicians and used to win elections, after which the citizens are left at their mercy.

What is worse is that the extractive and discriminatory policy of the APC has worsened youth unemployment and poverty, forcing many into drugs and criminality.

As long as this party remains in power, this culture of impunity will worsen. They have no intention to build a modern economy that works for everyone but a feudal system where they can share palliatives to communities who kiss the ring.

There must be collective action in rooting out these parasitic politicians who leave behind chaos instead of prosperity.''
