It was gathered that the attackers stormed Mbieri Divisional headquarters around 3 am on Friday and opened fire on the police facility.
An indigene of Mbieri living near the police divisional headquarters said that the attack was “frightening”.
"We didn’t sleep last night. They arrived around 3 am and the sounds of gunshots kept us awake till dawn.
This is so scary," she told Punch
Another source said that the hoodlums threw explosive devices at the police station.
"The armed robbers bombed the police station but luckily it was not maximum destruction.
The whole building was not affected. Part of the roof was affected.”
Spokesperson for the command, Micheal Abattam, who confirmed the incident said that it was a foiled attack.
Abattam said that Petrol bombs the attackers threw at the police formation only affected a part of the roof, adding that one vehicle was also affected.
He added that investigation had commenced with a view to arresting the suspects.
