Orji Uzor Kalu, who is the Senate’s Chief Whip on Tuesday wept after a federal high court found him guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
Kalu was found guilty of 39 counts of N7.2 billion fraud and money laundering.
Ruling, Justice Mohammed Idris sentenced Orji Kalu, to 12 years in prison for N7.65 billion fraud.
The court also ordered that the Slok Nig. Ltd. should be wound up and its assets forfeited to the Federal Government.
Kalu after the judgment was seen wiping his tears with a white handkerchief, the Nation reports.
Speaking after sentencing while been whisked away by the warders, Kalu said: “‘2023, here we come.”
He, however, begged the wardens not to handcuff him in public.
“Where are you taking us to now?
” Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you,” he added.
