Health Talk: How to make your dry cracked hands soft again

If your hand look like an old woman’s, that’s a clear indication that you have neglected them completely and need to start taking better care of them.



Hands are so susceptible to aging and effects are reflected faster on the hands than on the face. The skin on the back of the hands is thinner than the skin on the face and it’s because the back of the hand is almost fat-free skin.

So, when collagen breaks down, it creates wrinkles and other aging impacts on your hands. When your hands look rough, dry and wrinkly, which can also be from other factors like climate, exposure to harsh chemicals and soaps for instance, you can turn to these natural home remedies.

1. Coconut oil.
Coconut oils are full of fatty acids which are helpful for rough hands treatment. Simply massage your hands with extra virgin coconut oil every night before sleeping and put on gloves while sleeping. Within a couple of days, you should start seeing results.

2. Honey.
Honey is a natural moisturizer and it also contains antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Honey is a great remedy for dry and cracked hands because it helps restore back the moisture and in fact, it’s a main ingredient in many skin products. Apply a little amount of honey on your hands and let it stay for ten minutes before washing it off with warm water. You could do this twice a day, till you start seeing results.

3. Aloe vera.
Aloe Vera is another natural ingredient known for its moisturizing properties. It not only helps recover the moisture in rough dry hands but also makes a protective layer on the skin, which saves it from dust, dirt and other weather effects. Apply fresh aloe vera gel on your hands, leave it on for about ten minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Do this twice a day, till you start seeing the results.


4. Overripe banana.
Do not discard overripe bananas. They do an excellent moisturizing job. Using bananas is a perfect remedy for rough hands. It also helps remove wrinkles on the skin. Mash up an old ripe banana and rub it all over your hands then let it sit for about half an hour then wash it with mild water.

5. Lemon juice.
Lemon juice is ideal for skin. It’s a natural cleanser which effectively softens extremely dry hands. Lemon juice also helps improve the skin tone making it lighter and smoother. Taking lemon juice, baking soda and honey in equal amount. Mix them together and apply on your hands. Massage gently, leave on for five minutes then rinse with warm water.

These remedies will get your hands soft and supple and get rid of the dryness.
