The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has secured victory at the Ekiti election tribunal.
Fayemi contested the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his victory was challenged by Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Eleka had filed a petition against him, alleging series of election irregularities and malpractices.
Fayemi, in the defence, with over 3,000 documents as exhibits, averred that he actually won the gubernatorial election of July 14, contrary to claims by Eleka and urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.
On Monday, the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja unanimously struck out Eleka’s case and ruled that Fayemi is the duly elected Governor of the state.
