Three APC council chairmen die in road accident in Saudi Arabia

Three APC council chairmen, reportedly died in an auto crash which occurred around 3.00a.m on Friday in Saudi Arabia.



The three APC council chairmen whose death has been confirmed by the Hajj Commission in Zamfara, were travelling from Makkah to Madina, Saudi Arabia. The Public Relations Officer of the commission, Malam Yakub-Yahaya Talata-Mafara, who confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria in a telephone interview, disclosed that victims of the accident are six local government chairmen of APC from the state.

“Three of them died, while three others are receiving treatment at Saudi Arabia Hospital,’’ Talata-Mafara told NAN.

According to him, the remains of the deceased were under the custody of the Saudi Arabian authorities where they would be processed for burial.

“Hajj officials of the Zamfara contingents are making the necessary documentation to join the Saudi Arabian authorities in order to give the deceased befitting burial,’’ he said.

Also reacting to the death of the politicians, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal M-Liman, described the death as a great loss to the state and Nigeria as a whole. M-Liman described the deceased as loyal members of the party who had been in good relationship with their communities.

The death of the politicians is coming after two pilgrims who were among the 55,000 Nigerians who arrived the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj, were reported dead.

Dr Ibrahim Kana, Head of National Medical Team of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) who confirmed the death of the two pilgrims from Lagos and Kano, said the deceased – a male from Lagos and a lady from Kano – died from diabetic complications. According to him, the Lagos pilgrim died in Muna on Sunday, while the Kano pilgrim died in Makkah a forthnight ago. On the death of the lady, Dr. Kana said;

“On the Makkah mortality, she was our patient. A Known diabetic and we referred her to King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah before she died yesterday.

“We have already captured her on our Electronic Health Medical Records System.”

This announcement came after two million Muslim faithfuls from across the world, successfully performed the major highlight of 2018 Hajj.
