Wilfred Ndidi wins Leicester City Young Player Of The Year Award

Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi has emerged as the winner of Leicester City Young Player of the Year award for the 2017/2018 season.



The former K.R.C Genk midfielder won the award at the club’s annual award night on Tuesday night.

Ndidi impressed in his first Premier League season and was named the club’s best young talent in 2016-17.

The 21-year old beat off competition from the duo of Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray to the award, the Nigeria international was also nominated for the Players’ Player of the Season alongside Harry Maguire and James Vardy.

The 21-year-old has made 33 appearances to date in the league to help Claude Puel’s men stay ninth with 44 points from 35 matches.

Also, he leads the Premier League top of tackle charts with 138 tackles ahead of Idrissa Gueye and N’Golo Kante.

However, he was beaten by Harry Maguire to the Players’ Player of the Season and Player of the Season honours.

The midfielder is expected to undergo a scan on the hamstring injury he suffered in the Foxes 5-0 loss away at Crystal Palace on Saturday, April 28.

Ndidi got down to receive treatment on his hamstring before he was substituted in the 51st minute of the encounter.
