Central Bank of Nigeria release official statement over fire incident

The Central Bank of Nigeria has debunked rumours and reports of a fire incident which was said to have occurred on Tuesday evening at the head quarters located in Abuja



According to an official statement, the video of the smoke captioned with the building being engulfed with fire is only a fax. It was stated that the said smoke emanated from the generator house far away from the building of the bank, as a result of a technical fault from one of the generators.

The technical fault is under control by the engineers and he building is safe
The statement read;

“The CBN maintains a total security system that triggers safety alarms in the prescence of smoke so all fire engines and personnels received the alert only to discover that it was an unusual pall of exhaust. The affected generator has been rested and the work uninterrupted while the engineers are working to rectify the issues with the generator

The report of the fire was announced on Tuesday evening by a passerby who panicked on sighting the pall of dark smoke from the compound of the bank.
