The Dutch royal family release regal photos to mark 5th anniversary of the king's ascension to the throne

Though the British royal family is the most talked about in the news, there are other royal families in Europe that are just as fabulous.

The lesser-known but equally fabulous Dutch royal family is led by King Willem-Alexander, who has been monarch of the Netherlands since 2013, after his mother Queen Beatrix abdicated.

Willem-Alexander married his wife, Queen Máxima, in 2002, and together they have three daughters: Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane.
14-year-old Catharina-Amalia is currently the heir apparent of the throne, followed by her two younger sisters.

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands ascending the throne, new photos of the King and his family have been released. The new portraits are a modern departure from the royal family's typical family photo shoot.
