Gunmen Kill Bank Worker, Three Others In Imo(Photo)

Some gunmen suspected to be hired killers on Saturday shot dead a 30-year-old bank worker, Enyioma Okwudiri, in Umuka, in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

The suspects also killed a 38-year-old man, Nanman Lamak, who hailed from Jos, Plateau State.

Both men were together when the assailants struck around 9pm.
Punch correspondent learnt that the bank worker, who reportedly owned a guest house in the area, known as Benex Hotel, was on his way to drop off two guests he carried in his Honda Civic when they were attacked.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Okwudiri was giving Lamak a lift in his car and another lady, whose identity had yet to be identified, when the killers, who were said to be in another car, cornered their vehicle.

They were said to have shot dead the duo before fleeing the scene.

Sources said that it was a clear case of assassination, adding that the gunmen shot the two men repeatedly and did not steal any of their belongings.

“They cornered the vehicle, shot Okwudiri and Lamak continuously until they died. The gunmen did not take anything from them, not even their phones,” a source said.

The lady, punch correspondent learnt, had been arrested by policemen from the Okigwe Area Command.

An eyewitness said the gunmen also killed two other persons at Njeagwake Okigwe town.

The victims were reportedly making use of an Automated Teller Machine when they were shot dead.

The Transition Committee Chairman of the Okigwe LGA, Sunny Chiadi, who confirmed the killings to our correspondent in a telephone chat, said indications showed that the gunmen could be hired assassins.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Andrew Enwerem, said he had yet to be briefed.

He, however, promised to get back to punch correspondent.

He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
