N79bn fraud: EFCC seals ex-Gov. Shema’s 3 houses

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off three houses in Katsina State, belonging to immediate past governor of the state, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.

The inscription on the walls of the houses located at Barhim Quarters, the Government Reserved Area and Makera Estate, all in Katsina, read: ‘EFCC, UNDER INVESTIGATION’.
The EFCC had declared Shema wanted over an alleged N76bn fraud.

The former governor, who later turned himself him, was declared wanted last week amid allegations that he committed offenses such as “criminal conspiracy, inflation of contract, abuse of office, diversion of funds and embezzlement running into billions of naira”.
Reacting to the development, Shema’s media aide, Oluwabusola Olawale urged agencies involved in the investigations to respect his principal’s right to fair hearing.
