The Kogi State governorship election tribunal, sitting in Abuja, has upheld the election of Governor Yahaya Bello as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State, NTA reports.
James Faleke who ran as deputy Governorship candidate with Late Abubakar Audu, petitioned the emergence of Yahaya Bello as governor of the state and asked the tribunal to declare him governor because the election of late Audu was almost concluded before he died.
The tribunal ruled that the Faleke’s failure to join INEC in his petition against the election of Governor Yahaya Bello is a major defect to the petition, saying that the fact that INEC declared the first election held on November 21st, 2015 inconclusive meant no governor or deputy governor-elect had emerged.
