Former Borno state governor, (2003-2011) Ali Modu Sheriff, has emerged the new chairman of PDP. Mr. Sherrif, who is replacing Ahmadu Mu’azu, the former chairman who resigned shortly after the polls, has been a controversial figure amid allegations he funded and sponsored the extremist sect, Boko Haram. He denies the allegation.
National Spokesperson of PDP, Olisa Metuh, announced his emergence as Chairman of the party to newsmen at the party's national secretariat, Wadata plaza in Abuja this afternoon. He said the national caucus of the party, PDP governors’ forum and the national assembly caucuses have all endorsed the decision.
