Hisbah begins crackdown on "immorality" in Kano

The Kano Hisbah Board has revealed that it has embarked on a massive crackdown on immoral acts across the state under a new initiative tagged “operation Kano First”.

Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Mujahid Aminuddeen, issued the warning on Thursday, August 13, 2026 shortly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf donated 10 operational vehicles and 50 motorcycles to reinforce Hisbah’s activities.

"Those who go out doing different immoral acts in Kano should know that Hisbah has commenced ‘Operation Kano First’ and anybody caught will be arrested and face the wrath of the law,” Aminuddeen said.

He explained that Hisbah officials had already visited major roads in Kano on Thursday as part of the operation and would continue to patrol in the coming days to “enjoin people to do the right and shun the bad ones as well as ensure reconciliation among them."

Hisbah Board, established by the Kano State Government, is mandated to enforce Sharia-related laws, promote moral conduct and mediate disputes.
