WAEC shared the update on its official X account on Friday, announcing that registration will now close on Friday, March 13, 2026.The brief extension is reportedly due to technical issues and high registration demand, which have been highlighted in prior official updates since January.
WAEC had earlier assured that the 2026 CB-WASSCE would be fully accessible to students across Nigeria, regardless of location. The council emphasized that, with the new computer-based format, no candidate will be excluded due to limited access to technology or infrastructure.
Deliberate measures are being implemented to ensure that candidates from rural and underserved areas have the same opportunities as those in urban centres.
Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC’s National Office, reiterated this assurance in Abuja during a sensitization session with members of the National Assembly Committees on Education. The session aimed to brief lawmakers on the CB-WASSCE process and secure their support in addressing potential challenges linked to its rollout.
