Troops of Nigerian Army raided an illegal mining site at Iddah in Bwari Area Council of the FCT, arresting 27 suspects and destroying the illegal miners’ camps during sustained operations across the country in the last 24 hours.

A source disclosed that the operation in the FCT was executed by troops of 7 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA. The troops also neutralised three terrorists

The source listed the items recovered during the operation to include a dane gun, four motorcycles and assorted mining equipment, while troops also mounted roadblocks along the Bwari–Ushafa–Dutse axis.

The source said the terrorists were neutralised during coordinated offensive and response operations as troops maintained pressure on criminal elements across multiple theatres.

In the North-East, he said troops of the Joint Task Force, North-East, under Operation Hadin Kai sustained offensive operations for Operation Desert Sanity V across Sectors 1 to 4.

He added that the troops conducted aggressive patrols and routine activities within their Areas of Responsibility, with no major security breaches recorded during the period.
