Police spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed the arrest on Sunday evening, stating that the incident was reported to the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division by the deceased’s sister.
Okoye said the couple had a disagreement on Thursday, 11 December 2025, which reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. Uloma collapsed during the altercation and was immediately taken to Cecilia Hospital, Ogbe, where she was pronounced de.ad by medical personnel.
“Operatives of the Ahiazu Mbaise Division acted promptly on the report lodged by the deceased’s sister and arrested Vitalis Nwoko for the alleged murder of his wife,” Okoye said.
He added that preliminary investigations revealed the altercation began as a misunderstanding between the couple, which escalated physically, resulting in Uloma’s collapse.
The suspect has since been transferred to the Imo State Police Command headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has urged residents to report domestic violence cases immediately, assuring that the police will take firm action against offenders.
