Whether you were caught up in the Emilia Pérez controversy or celebrated the Wicked wins, the night was full of historic moments and big surprises.
Anora emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home five Oscars, including Best Picture. Director Sean Baker, previously without an Oscar, walked away with four, setting a new record for most Oscars won for a single film in one night. His wins included Best Picture (as a producer), Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
On the acting side, Mikey Madison (Anora) triumphed over Demi Moore (The Substance) in a fiercely competitive Best Actress race. Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) won his second career Oscar for Best Actor, beating Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown).
In the supporting categories, Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) completed their dominant awards season runs by winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Wicked‘s Paul Tazewell became the first Black man to win Best Costume Design. Meanwhile, legendary songwriter Diane Warren extended her Oscars losing streak, suffering her 16th consecutive defeat in the Best Original Song category.
The ceremony also featured several memorable performances, including a Wizard of Oz-inspired medley by Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, and a musical tribute to Quincy Jones led by Queen Latifah.
