Lagos task force impounds 128 motorcycles

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement unit, also known as the Lagos Task Force, have impounded no fewer than 128 motorcycles in multiple operations across various parts of the state.

The operations were part of the agency’s efforts to clamp down on illegal operation of commercial motorcycles across restricted areas in the state.

According to the spokesperson for the task force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operations were carried out in Ikorodu, Ikotun, Berger and other parts of the state

Abdulraheem noted that aside from impounding motorcycles, both riders and passengers would be prosecuted if arrested.

He said, “The Lagos State Task Force continued its rigorous enforcement against the illegal operation of commercial motorcycles (okada) in restricted areas of the state during the recent operations carried out in Berger, Sabo in Ikorodu, Ikotun and other areas of the state.

“The chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reiterated the agency’s unwavering stance on the illegal operations, stressing that both riders and passengers found violating the ban will be prosecuted.

“Passengers on okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders,” he warned.

He added that the impounded motorcycles would be forfeited to the state government while urging residents to adhere to rules and regulations.
