Police ban use of tinted glasses, covered number plates in Borno

The Borno state police command has banned the use of tinted glasses for vehicles in the state.

In a statement released, the spokesperson of the command, Kamiludeen Sani, Borno police spokesperson, said the use of covered number plates has also been barred in the state.

Sani said the command has observed that vehicle owners use tinted vehicle glasses, covered number plates and spy number plates indiscriminately. He added that the police has also noticed that sirens are being blared by unauthorized persons in the state.

The spokesperson warned residents against engaging in such acts, adding that unlawful activities will not be tolerated.

“Violators of the law against the use of the items are warned to desist as the police would not allow unpatriotic individuals to violate the law by their acts of lawlessness. All heads of departments, area commanders, divisional police officers and tactical commanders have been directed to heighten the level of vigilance in their respective areas of responsibility.'' the statement in part reads
