Fuel Stations Caught Hoarding Products Will Lose Their Landed Property – Gov Obaseki Warns

The Edo state government has threatened to revoke the land of any fuel station found hoarding petrol.

Fuel scarcity surfaced in many parts of the country on Monday May 29 shortly after President Bola Tinubu announced that the era of Fuel subsidy is over.

Many Nigerians thought this will immediately mean a spike in petrol pump price.

They trooped to fuel stations to purcahse the product. They were shocked to find out that fuel stations that hitherto sold the product said they have exhausted their supplies.

This has caused confusion across the country as transport fares have gone up due to the fact that many drivers are unable to purchase fuel.

In a statement released, Osaigbovo Iyoha who is the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government, stated that the state government will revoke the lnd of any petrol station found hoarding petrol.

Read the statement below

"The attention of Edo State Government has been drawn to the unscrupulous attempt by petrol delears in the state to hoard fuel and create artificial scarcity and price hike.

As a responsible government that cares for her citizens, we shall resist this economic sabotage by every legal means possible.

To this end, all petrol stations are ordered to immediately resume sales of products to Edo people or risk immediate closure, and possible revocation of their property to enable others who want to do legitimate and respectful business in Edo State come and invest.

We cannot continue to allow extortion of our people in whatever guise.

A word is enough for the wise.

Signed,''
