2023: Peter Obi wins Labour Party Presidential primaries after Pat Utomi steps down

A former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, has emerged as the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), after Professor Pat Utomi stepped down for him.

Utomi took the decision at the party’s presidential primary in Asaba, Delta State.

This was confirmed in a tweet shared by former Anambra governorship aspirant, Oseloka Obaze, who is also a member of Obi’s presidential campaign team.
Shortly after this, Obi was announced as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election which many have described as the "third force".
Last week, Obi joined the LP, after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, despite being one of the party’s presidential aspirants.
