The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Donjour Perezi, told the court that Okafor committed the offence sometime in 2021, in his residence at Oworonshoki.
He said that the defendant defiled his 12- year-old stepdaughter.
The police said that the matter was reported at the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Agency, Alausa.
He said that Okafor s3xually abused his stepdaughter twice and her mother, who is aware and even caught her husband red-handed once, refused to take any legal action
The police charged Okafor with one count of defilement.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, declined to take Okafor’s plea, ordering the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
She then adjourned the case until May 12 for DPP advice.
According to the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2005, defilement attracts life imprisonment.
