Health Talk: How To Boost Your Immune System Naturally

These are trying times, all things considered and we’re all worried about our health.



A simple sniffle will send us into a panic mode that will need a doctor to soothe, the stress has also started to take a toll on our immune system as well leaving us vulnerable to bacterial or viral attacks.

We’ve stocked up on every vitamin or bottled nutrient we can get and our fridges and cabinets are full of elixirs which claim to cure or prevent an ailment or another.

Our grandmothers were never about the pill popping life for every ailment/prevention, they just ate healthy stuff and drank herbal teas offered by nature to keep their immune system up and running .

They didn’t only drink when they were sick but it was just part of their day to day thing such that they always stayed fit and healthy..

A mixture consisting of garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper and lemon is a favorite among natural immune boosting remedies.

Even esteemed Naturopaths also recommend this mixture, everyday in the morning.

This tea is mostly targeted at the lymphatic system which is known as the ‘home of the immune system’

It functions as a detox system and is in charge of nutrient delivery.

If there is a congestion or a slump in the lymphatic and immune system, the lymph nodes swell, we’ve all seen someone with visibly swollen lymph nodes due to a compromised immune system.

The lymphatic drainage becomes slow and stagnant , which greatly impacts the lymphatic and immune system and its ability to flush toxins out of the body.

Part of the lymphatic system involves creating white blood cells called lymphocytes, they act as defenders against microorganisms that invade and attack our bodies by producing antibodies which kill and stop infections from spreading.

For the mixture, you can enjoy it raw, or as a tea.

You need

  • Crushed fresh Garlic


  • Crushed fresh ginger

  • Ground cayenne pepper or fresh


  • Lemon juice or Apple cider vinegar.


You mix all ingredients in a tin or sealable container.

Take just one teaspoon every morning.

Alternatively make a tea by steeping all ingredients in warm water for 5-10 minutes.

Do not use boiling water as it destroys some essential enzymes

Drink the tea everyday for maximum benefits.
