Punch exclusively gathered that the worst-hit areas in Abeokuta included Abule-Otun in Lafenwa, Kuto, Idi-Aba and Oke-Ijeun.

It was gathered that a woman and her child were the first casualties of the outbreak.

The two were reportedly rushed to a private hospital which later referred them to the state hospital.

Further findings showed that the cholera outbreak had started since November 4 and claimed the life of a woman at Abule-Otun, Lafenwa while her child was hospitalised.

Some other people were reported to have lost their lives due to the outbreak.

When Punch visited Abule-Otun and Isale-Odo where the outbreak started, it was gathered that many residents of the area were down with cholera.

One of the residents, Adeola Adeniyi, told Punch that some residents were defecating and vomiting.

He said some of them had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, while others were rushed to the state hospital.
