Three Nigerians arrested with more than 20 kg of illicit drugs in Cambodia

Three Nigerians were on Sunday arrested at a guesthouse in Phnom Penh's Meanchey district after they allegedly smuggled 20kg of crystal methamphetamine into the Cambodian capital from Laos.

The 20kg of crystal methamphetamine recovered from the suspects were allegedly packed in 21 plastic bags.

"Police seized more than 20 kg of the drug, which was packed in 21 plastic bags," the National Police said on its website.

"The trio are being questioned and will be sent to the court for legal action in accordance with the law."

Though there is no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers in the Southeast Asian country, however anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of any illicit drug is jailed for life.
