Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad has revealed that the Federal Government has hired lawyers in Saudi Arabia to defend the case of Zainab Aliyu, a student who is held in the Middle-East country over drug-related charges.
This is coming after President Buhari directed the Attorney-General of the Federation and the office of the Minister of Justice to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as National Hajj Commission of Nigeria towards her release.
Bashir Ahmad tweeted:
UPDATE: As President @MBuhari directed AGF to intervene in Zainab Habib’s case, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria announces the hiring of lawyers in Saudi Arabia to compliment efforts of the Nigerian mission in the Kingdom towards securing her timely release from detention.
Zainab Aliyu is thought to be a victim of an airport cartel who smuggle drugs through luggages of unsuspecting travellers. Tramadol was found in her bag at the airport in Saudi Arabia.
Nice one
