We are not aware of the siege on Saraki and Ekweremadu’s residence – Police

Shortly after the homes of President of the senate, Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was stormed by security operatives, the Nigeria Police Force has denied knowledge of the siege.



NPF spokesman, DCP Jimoh Moshood who spoke to a Daily Trust correspondent, said he was not aware of the development.

“I am not aware. You are just informing me,” he said.

The police spokesperson who promised to come up with a statement on the siege, added that the last communication he was aware of is the letter asking Saraki to make himself physically available to interrogators at 8am today. The Senate President is expected to answer questions in the case of Offa bank robbery and murder of more than 31 persons, including the snatching of 21 AK 47 Riles on 5th of April 2018.

While men of the Nigerian Police took position around the Lake Chad, Maitama, Abuja residence of Saraki, the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and policemen took position around the official residence of Senator Ekweremadu, in the Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja. The operatives took positions from the main gate up to the official residence of Senator Ekweremadu early this morning.
