“Mr Kawombe was arrested at Malaba while he made an attempt to smuggle mobile phones into Uganda.
He was made to undergo the extra compulsory body search before our agents discovered the concealed phones wrapped carefully on his body using a cello-tape.
This is a major crack down on the activities of smugglers as we are now in the know of one of the way through which they take in these items into the country illegally.
Kawombe will be handed over to the Police and we will prosecute him to serve as a deterrent to others who are in the same trade with him”
He was arrested at a URA checkpoint in Malaba were officers do random checks, the statement added.
