FIFA through its official website, on Wednesday announced 22-year-old defender Benjamin Pavard as the winner of the 2018 FIFA World Cup goal for his spectacular strike against Argentina.
Pavard’s shot won a public vote cast by over three million fans on FIFA’s websiteto be named the best of the 169 goals scored in the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia
"I didn't even think about it. I just tried to get over it and keep it down," Pavard said, “The ball bounced up as it came to me. I was trying to hit it in the direction it came from, which is what the strikers always tell me.
"When the ball went in I just felt so happy." He added.
France won the trophy for the second time after thrashing Croatia 4-2 in the finals.
